Today, I saw this allegation starting to circulate and thought I would research it due to the unbelievable nature of it. I thought surely this was a fabricated internet rumor.
We all know what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. Twenty-six people were shot and killed by Adam Lanza, who then cowardly turned the gun on himself. Quickly, conspiracy theories surfaced that it was a “False Flag” event filled with crisis actors, tall tales, and fiction.
Of course this is controversial, but the theory survives to this day, and seems like there is no putting it to rest.
Recently, the FBI has published crime statistics for 2012, and it is only adding more fuel to this conspiracy theory. According to the FBI statistics, Newtown is reported to have ZERO deaths, in the category of, “Murder and non negligent manslaughter” which supports the conspiracy theory that “no one died.”
Web sites like Alex Jones’ InfoWars.com, and many other hardcore conspiracy sites exploded over the statistics, and they claim this supports the fact that Sandy Hook was simply a “False Flag” event, and that no one was killed.
Let me be perfectly clear. I am not saying the Sandy Hook shooting did not happen, but rather, choose to research the documented evidence that may exist — which either supports these claims or refutes them. In this case, this piece of “evidence” is truly there, and it can be easily sourced using official government channels. The question then becomes, “Why is it there?”
The FBI statistics, published on their official website, clearly show the statistics that there were zero murders in Newtown the same year that Sandy Hook Elementary was terrorized by Lanza:
However, with the interest of accuracy, I thought maybe they simply labeled the shooting as something else which they put into a different category. As a citizen we may feel it was murder, but to law enforcement, they may feel it’s something else.
Although I couldn’t see a category that would be more fitting for the statistic, I decided to verify how the 2012 Aurora, Colorado shooting was classified in the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics. As you may recall, this was the shooting in which James Holmes entered a crowded theater and opened fire, killing 12 and injuring 70 others.
The data table published by the FBI shows a total of 29 people in the, “Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter” category, which probably takes into account those who died in the Theater during the premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
So what does it all mean?
I have filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the FBI for all records pertaining to the number zero that they placed in the Newtown murder category. In fairness to the FBI, I want them to have the opportunity to show where the statistics of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting went – and maybe put this conspiracy theory to rest, once and for all. Hopefully, it won’t take years for them to respond.
Other documents have surfaced as well, which may remain more of a coincidence than evidence. Under the FOIA, I was also able to obtain documents that show Lanza’s original death certificate was filed with the wrong date. It was later amended, and both copies reside with the Social Security Administration. Many have put forth since that release, that this was more evidence to show that his death, and the Sandy Hook shooting, were fabricated.
